New York carries 10 yachts in the Shift fleet, ranging from 35 feet up to 116 feet. The fleet's largest vessel holds up to 125 guests, making it one of the few boats in the Shift network built for large events rather than a small group outing. Every boat in the fleet is crewed.
Hourly rates start at $450 and reach $2,500, with a median around $1,344 an hour. A concierge confirms every charter: send your dates, group size and preferred area, and a representative confirms the boat, the crew and the price before anything is charged.
Charters depart from marinas near Chelsea Piers, Battery Park and North Cove, putting most boats within a short ride of Manhattan hotels for guests who want to board without a long drive out of the city. Trips are booked by the hour, so the concierge team can build a short harbor run or a longer charter around a private event.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to charter a yacht in New York?
New York charters start at $450 an hour and go up to $2,500, with a median around $1,344 an hour. Price depends on the yacht's size and length of the charter.
Does a New York charter come with a captain?
Yes. Every yacht in the New York fleet, all 10 boats, is crewed with a captain, and the concierge team confirms the specific crew and boat once your dates are set.
Is there an age requirement to charter in New York?
Charters are crewed, so no boating license is needed. Age and any group requirements are confirmed by the concierge team at booking based on the yacht and the occasion, along with any group-size limits for a specific boat.
What's included in a New York yacht charter?
A few boats include a jacuzzi, kayaks or snorkel gear. Exact inclusions vary by yacht and are confirmed with the concierge team before you book, so ask about a specific boat's equipment list.
Where does the yacht depart from?
Departure points sit near Chelsea Piers, Battery Park and North Cove. There isn't a single fixed dock for every charter, so the concierge team confirms the exact marina once your boat and date are set.
What's the minimum charter length and cancellation policy?
Minimum charter length depends on the boat and is confirmed at booking, usually measured in hours. Cancellation terms are on the Terms page and reconfirmed by the concierge team when you reserve.
